This might be the stupidest comic I've drawn yet, but it might also be my favorite. I keep a Word file of ideas for future strips, and this is how I originally wrote down the idea:
nero buys a sympathy card THAT PLAYS MUSIC WHEN YOU OPEN IT. THE SONG IS "dON'T STOP BEREAVIN'" -- "HOLD ON TO THAT FEELAY EYAAIING!!!"
I really, really wanted to make that card, and when I checked the definition of bereavement (merely for fact-checking) I was crushed. I added this note to the idea but couldn't bring myself to delete it:
(ACTUALLY THIS MAKES NO SENSE BY THE DEFINITION OF BEREAVEMENT)
Nero's frustration is my own. After two months of refusing to give in (and even considering Urban's suggestion) I realized my own predicament was funnier than the stupid pun would be in the first place.
